The general objective of the assessment of socio-economic aspects is to assess experiences from the first phase of the three neighbourhoods, in order to improve future plans and disseminate best practices to related
neighbourhoods.

Specific targets are to assess successes and shortcomings of the innovative energy package in phase 1, to learn for future plans and implementation, including innovative techniques and to discuss a role for collective, bottom-up approaches in future plans.

As our methodology, we will make an integrated assessment of past implementation and future options, based on an interdisciplinary approach and active stakeholder involvement.

Research stages are:

  1. Setting the stage: Collecting written comments and experiences, including inhabitant feedback, followed by setting up a dialogue group.
  2. Strengths and Weaknesses of Amsterdam Houthavens phase 1, Helsingborg Grönkullan + Halan phase 1 and Lyon Confluence:Listing relevant aspects, assess the successes and shortcomings on different aspects andprioritize necessary improvements.
  3. Options for improvement:Discuss the ambition level for the phase 2 of the project in Amsterdam and Helsingborg and similarneighbourhoods, options for innovative techniques and infrastructure and options for organizational innovation and future governance of climate neutral neighbourhoods. This stage will be supported by external experts.
  4. Integration and choice: To make an integrated assessment of individual options and packages, in order to give advice on improved packages for climate neutral neighbourhoods, both technical and organizational.
