The goal of the project is to address all elements and systems of the buildings that could contribute to a better energy efficiency and sustainability. This includes enhanced systems for energy behaviour monitoring and demand response and load control systems. Here is an important role for ICT to play. The aim here is to reduce the amount of primary energy needed by the buildings by optimization of the integration of renewable energy on the buildings as well as of the loads. The feedback and metering system to be designed and installed enables long term monitoring and inhabitants feedback, also beyond the boundaries of the project.


Specific goals are:

  1. To develop an architecture to use local, mostly sustainable energy; electricity but also heat and cooling.
  2. To develop an inhabitant feedback program based on smart metering and near real time data gathering and representation.
  3. To investigate and develop a demand response methodology, introduction of a pilot system with the functions pricing (marked), measurement and billing.
